This past week, I think I may have written thirteen words.
I despise the term "writer's block". I am stubborn and will usually push my way through. I have tricks I use (prompts, challenges, writing scenes out of order) that usually work.
Not this week. I've tried working on "Drive Me Crazy" (the sequel to Kitchen Matches), "A Jewel for Geoff" and "Queen and Assassin". No matter how much love I have for them (and I have MUCH), I just can't seem to write.
I am beyond frustrated.
Still, I'm going to keep beating my head against it and eventually I will break through.
You?

My Check-In
My check-in is easy:
0 words
Yep.
I did much editing of "Queen and Assassin" based on suggestions from a friend (who grumbled because it's not done, and I left her hanging). But no new words.
*sigh*
There's a new week starting tomorrow!

Holy... Cannoli!
I'm being PG here. Maybe... I don't know if it's possible for me to be completely PG.
I'm checking in early because I'm riding a bit of a high tonight. LOL. I just wrote 12,000+ words in two days. Nope, you didn't read that wrong... TWELVE THOUSAND PLUS words. I don't think I've ever done that before! :::doing a little happy dance:::

So, I let Mysti egg me on and I wrote... and wrote... and wrote... and made my hubby feed the kids (which he didn't complain about) and the short story she challenged me to write is in her inbox as of an hour and a half ago. I'm gonna ride this high for a bit... until she sends me her edits. *groan* I hate edits.
Ayway... my word count widget for the story is as follows:
Kealie's "Appearances"

That means I met my goals, at least for this week. YAY! I guess I work much better when I'm dared to do it... and when someone pokes me... anyone else want to email me and poke at me? LOL

My Saturday Check-In
Despite my enthusiasm for the new story I've been brainstorming, my fantasy has taken over my writing life. I didn't make my goal for the week, but I did write -- and when I managed to find blocks of time, the words just fell from my fingers. It was wonderful.I added just over 3000 words to my story. Not the 7000 I'd been shooting for, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!!!
You?
Oh, and... HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Saturday check-in... a bit late
Well, this has been a challenging week. I have really been struck down by arthritis the past couple of weeks, and this week may have been the transition week for me, in the sense that I had some work done via massage therapy that ultimately helped tremendously, but kept me thoroughly down for a couple of days. I managed about 4000 words this week, and will shoot for 7000 by the end of next Saturday. I also changed my word count meter to reflect the length that I'd actually like to hit with the manuscript:

On the plus side, I got through an extremely pivotal and complex section that will move my character to the third act. I feel good to have made it to the other side of that. I'm feeling less like I'm spinning my wheels and I'm happier about the quality of the work I'm producing, since about two weeks ago, I wasn't very happy.
All in all, I'm pleased with the progress.
