Everyone is talking (well, a few people are talking) about their February goals. Here we are, ten days into the month and I don't think I've posted mine. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm not going to go back to find out.
I think I'll join Marianne's goal and just write. Every day. Edit when I can (because Forever Home is in the place right now where I can't edit every day) but otherwise work on some of my unfinished projects, starting with my wip Going Going Gone (which I hope will be HQ Blaze worthy).
There, that's simple, concise. To the point.
Everyone have a great and productive month!

February Grand Total
Well, I didn't do as well as I hoped I would, but I did actually get some writing done. I went from 3712 to 4348... so a grand total of 636 words.
Somehow, I thought I had written more than that. When I went back and looked, I realized I had been doing quite a bit of research and world-building/rule-making. Ah, well, at least I'm getting more of it hashed out. And I'm having fun in the process, which has been missing for some time. I refuse to let my wonky health take away the joy I find in my writing (oh, alright, and the angst... but we won't go there right now).
I have a new goal of 1000 words a day, and even if I have to force myself to put down the new book by Gena Showalter (or whoever else I MUST read) I'll be working toward that goal. I love these characters and want them to have their story... so I can move onto the next set of screaming characters in my head. LOL
Here's my widget for now:

Keep your fingers crossed that by the end of March I'll have almost a full manuscript. Maybe by the end of April I'll have it all ready for the first round of edits and Crits. Yup, I'm being optimistic, I refuse to be anything else.

Finally..
It's taken me a month and a week, but I've FINALLY started writing.
I reread my story Molasses Swamp and decided to concentrate on it while my other projects are simmering on the backburners. (My muse has a very large stovetop!)
I LOVE this story. It has so much fun in it, so much action and zip! So I thought I'd twist things by throwing in a murder. No such luck. It's still too early. Instead, I added another character - a new character totally unexpected by Jason. That's right...Jason is going to flip when he sees who his mom is dating! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
And his mom is going to freak when she finds what he's hiding in his room...
Anyhoo, I eked out about 1,000 words. That's no where near my goal of 500 per day, but it's a beginning!

February, here I come!
I didn't make the 50K goal, but it sounds like I'm in good company and we're all going to make our goals for February, right?
I always thought November was a horrible month for NaNo--at least from a woman/mom/hostess/doer-of-everything-for-the-upcoming-holidays point of view. And I thought January would be better. Of course, if I'd been able to clear the decks better of all other distractions (work, upcoming contests, etc.) I may have made it. But no excuses. I averaged about 1000 words a day overall for the month on my wip--Suicide Watch--and I'm going to be darned pleased with that!
But I'm going to do better in February.
Still have one more busy week for all the beginning of the month column deadlines, but then I have smooth sailing (I hope--except for need to do tax stuff, of course. Ugh!). Since I made 1000 words pretty regularly last month, I'm going to hope to go over 1K each day since that's the goal for this month.
That's my plan, anyway.
And not to derail anyone else from Feb goals, but does everyone who reads romance know that Harlequin is giving away downloadable books right now at their website? You can download into several formats--I just had everything sent as PDF, but there are several ebook format for anyone with readers. The link is http://harlequincelebrates.com/index.php. You can download 1 book, or all free 16!
