Dung Shuiing in Preparation

I'm not sure that this is the best preparation (I should be storyboarding but maybe I'll do that after Christmas) but I have spent the last couple of weeks "Dung Shuiing" my office (term from Margie Lawson's Defeating Self-Defeating Behaviors Class). (Think feng shui but where you're tossing out all the detritus to make a clear space for thinking, writing and creating.) I'm so much happier coming into an orderly place. Just one more box to file.

I've also been reading a book on organization for writers. One suggestion was to have a clear bookshelf for your project so it was all out in the open and could be tamed into off-the-desk piles. I've got my clear shelf with one pile of notes and the binder for the pages I'll create in JaNoWriMo.

I'm really excited about this. This is all way overdue and I'm so happy I took the time to do it. Now, to clear off the dining table for Christmas Dinner and vacuum.

Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating!

Oooh... I've been organizing my office, too, but have a ways to go -- maybe I'll set a goal to have it done by 12/31. I think that's a great plan!

Thanks :-)

I really want an office. I'm stuck in my dining room. I'm sure all the feng shui experts out there would be horrified with my work conditions!

Maybe once I get a new desk I'll ask for my writing space to be looking out the window. Is that better than a wall?

Gee...what's an office? I have a rolltop in the diningroom/kitchen and a bookshelf I share with all the homeschooling "stuff". I don't like clutter on the desk, so I keep that picked up pretty well. However, whenever we have company (this week. HELLO!) then any and everything unsightly or undealt with gets stashed in the rolltop out of sight. Guess who has some sorting and organizing to do?

I need to do this, too. I'm sort of doing this all over right now. It's feeling good, except when I'm actually cleaning.

I hate cleaning.
